The exhibition called 'Giurgiu-Ruse. Superangular' featuring photographs and vintage cameras from the Sorin Margarit collection, alongside images from the archive of AGERPRES National News Agency, will open at the Rousse Regional Historical Museum, Bulgaria, on 19 October.

'From photographs taken in 19th-century studios to images from the interwar period and the communist years, the exhibits trace the transformations of the city and everyday life. Portraits, buildings, streets and moments from the community's history form a visual journey in which studio photography meets documentary and press photography,' the 'Teohari Antonescu' Museum in Giurgiu said in a post on its Facebook page on Tuesday.

According to the quoted source, the section dedicated to the city of Ruse, which has been included since the exhibition's first showing in Giurgiu, takes on particular significance as the exhibition travels to Bulgaria. The images invite visitors to rediscover a past shaped by geographical proximity, commercial and cultural exchanges and ties between the people of the two Danube cities.

'Vintage cameras complete this journey, drawing attention to the instruments through which the faces and places of the past have been preserved. The title 'Superangular', inspired by the wide-angle photographic lens, suggests a comprehensive view of history, open to both banks of the Danube,' the 'Teohari Antonescu' Museum in Giurgiu further mentioned.

The exhibition opened in May 2026 at the 'Teohari Antonescu' County Museum in Giurgiu under the title 'Giurgiu Superangular' and is now travelling to Bulgaria, to the Rousse Regional Historical Museum. This new stage offers Bulgarian audiences the opportunity to discover photographic testimonies of the past of the two cities and the ties between the communities on the banks of the Danube.

The exhibition will open on Monday, 19 October, at 17:00 at the Regional Museum of History in Ruse. It will remain on display in Ruse until the end of November 2026.

The exhibition is organised by the 'Teohari Antonescu' County Museum in Giurgiu, the Rousse Regional Historical Museum, the Danubius Ruse-Giurgiu Euroregion Association and historian Sorin Margarit. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Cornelia Dumitru; EN - writing by: Rodica State)
