The Romanian Red Cross will mark World Restart a Heart Day on Friday with a large-scale flash mob at the Arch of Triumph, involving more than 70 volunteers.
According to a release sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday, the event is dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of providing first aid.
'Around the Arch of Triumph, 42 Romanian Red Cross volunteers will take part in a resuscitation demonstration, highlighting the importance of knowing first aid techniques and intervening quickly in a medical emergency. The activity aims to remind the public that, in the event of cardiac arrest, every second counts and starting resuscitation promptly can increase the victim's chances of survival until medical teams arrive,' the release mentioned.
Meanwhile, a group of 30 volunteers will stage a dynamic flash mob on the pedestrian crossing on the central slip road of King Mihai I Boulevard, near the Arch of Triumph. The choreographed performance will transform an everyday space into an unconventional platform for conveying a public interest message: knowing how to provide first aid can make the difference between life and death.
The Romanian Red Cross aims to bring resuscitation closer to the public and encourage people to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to intervene in critical situations.
Cardiac arrest can occur at any time and anywhere, and the first person able to intervene is often a bystander nearby. Knowing resuscitation techniques and having the courage to act until specialised help arrives can make a decisive difference, the release underscored.
'First aid is not just a skill, but a form of responsibility towards those around us. In an emergency, a few minutes can make all the difference, and knowing resuscitation techniques can give us the chance to save a life. Through this initiative, we want to bring people to mind that each of us can become the link that makes the difference between life and death,' General Manager of the Romanian Red Cross Luiza Mihoci said, as quoted in the release.
