Organists Maria-Luisa Antal and Eduard Antal will give an extraordinary recital at the Romanian Athenaeum on 11 October as part of the eighth edition of the 'Organs of Romania' National Tour.

According to a press release the organisers sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday, the morning recital is the final concert of the autumn leg, following performances in Targu Mures on 29 September and at Saint-Sulpice in Paris on 4 October.

The programme, entitled 'Ludic,' brings together works for solo organ and four hands, in arrangements made by the two performers themselves. The audience will hear, among others, 'The Entertainer' by Scott Joplin, 'Bach on the Orient Express' by Andre Stamm, 'Mozart Changes' by Zsolt Gardonyi, 'Pasticcio' by Jean Langlais and 'Toccata in Seven' by John Rutter. Five movements from 'The Carnival of the Animals' by Camille Saint-Saens are included, while from Widor the programme features 'Scherzo' from Symphony No. 4 and 'Intermezzo' from Symphony No. 6. The programme concludes with Denis Bedard's 'Sinfonietta.'

'We played at Saint-Sulpice on 4 October, the church where Widor served as titular organist for 63 years. Two of his works are on Sunday's programme at the Athenaeum, so we are returning to Bucharest even happier than usual,' Maria-Luisa Antal said, according to the release.

'Sunday's concert is the third of the autumn leg, following Targu Mures and Paris. We have already performed the four-hand arrangements at two different venues in less than two weeks, and at the Athenaeum we hope as many people as possible will hear them,' Eduard Antal added.

Eduard Antal is titular organist of the Roman Catholic Saint Joseph Cathedral in Bucharest and project manager of Bucharest Organ Fest Cantus Ecclesiae. Maria-Luisa Antal, born in Verona in 1999, is pursuing a Master of Advanced Studies at the Conservatory of Lugano, where she studied with Stefano Molardi.

The concert organ at the Athenaeum was inaugurated on 22 April 1939, in a concert given by Franz Schutz, director of the Vienna Academy of Music. The funds for the organ were raised on George Enescu's initiative.

The 'Organs of Romania' Tour is a Pro Contemporania project as part of the 'Turnee de poveste' ('Fairytale Tours') series, which aims to bring organ music closer to audiences by showcasing historic instruments and emblematic venues across the country.
